Give to the nations in need: N Korea rejects 3 million COVID vaccine doses

UNICEF said North Korea has rejected roughly three million COVID-19 vaccine doses of China’s Sinovac Biotech(SVA) as they shall be sent to severely affected countries.

The isolated country’s Public Minister pointed to the limited global supply for vaccines and continuing virus rashes elsewhere, as per the UN’s children agency that manages the supply for the COVAX scheme for lower-income nations.

Recently, North Korea has not reported any new COVID-19 cases and has imposed strict antivirus measures which also include the closing of borders and domestic travel curbs.

According to a South Korean think-tank, which is affiliated with South Korea’s spy agency, in July, North Korea had rejected shipments of AstraZeneca’s (AZN.L) vaccine due to concerns over side effects.

The Institute for National Security Strategy said that North Korea was not desirous on Chinese vaccines due to concerns they may not be that effective but they have shown interest in vaccine shots made in Russia.

Several countries such as Thailand and Uruguay have begun using other vaccines for those who received the Sinovac vaccine shot as their first dose to be a bit cautious and increase protection from virus affecting.
