UAE Offers University Students Free Google AI Plus for One Year
The UAE has introduced one year of complimentary Google AI Plus access for eligible university students. The programme gives students access to Google Gemini alongside several AI-powered learning, research and content-production tools.
Moreover, the initiative aims to strengthen students’ digital skills and prepare them for the expanding role of artificial intelligence. It also supports national capacity-building while helping young people meet future academic and workplace requirements.
Supporting Responsible AI Skills
The UAE Artificial Intelligence Office launched the programme in collaboration with Google. Through this partnership, both organisations want students to use advanced AI tools effectively and responsibly.
Omar Sultan Al Olama, Minister of State for Artificial Intelligence, emphasised that the UAE leadership adopts a proactive vision that places humanity at the centre of its journey toward the future. This is achieved through sustainable investment in empowering new generations with the knowledge, skills, and opportunities that enhance their readiness to contribute to development and solidify the UAE’s position as a global model in foresight and shaping the future.
Furthermore, he stated that the upcoming phase requires transitioning from merely using AI tools to building a deeper understanding of how to employ them responsibly in learning and research.
Al Olama also affirmed that access to advanced AI models can encourage continuous learning, exploration and innovation. Additionally, these tools can help students expand their knowledge, create solutions and contribute to an AI-driven future.
Google AI Plus Tools and Training
The Google AI Plus plan includes the Gemini app and its latest AI model. Moreover, students can use tools that organise sources, summarise study materials and assist with research preparation.
The package also provides AI tools for generating images and videos. In addition, Gemini Notebook allows students to interact with academic sources, prepare summaries and access interactive audio content.
Students will receive 400GB of storage as part of the subscription. Therefore, they can keep academic files, research materials and AI-generated content within the available storage allowance.
Meanwhile, the partnership will offer virtual and in-person training programmes for university students. These sessions will explain how to use Gemini and Gemini Notebook for learning and research.
Furthermore, the training will promote responsible practices when students work with artificial intelligence. As a result, participants can develop practical skills while learning about the appropriate use of AI technology.
Eligibility and Registration Deadline
Registered university students in the UAE who are at least 18 years old can apply for the offer. However, they must complete their registration before December 31, 2026.
Once approved, eligible students will receive the Google AI Plus plan free for one full year. The offer can be accessed through goo.gle/studentoffer26-uae.
The expanded programme follows strong participation in last year’s university student initiative. Consequently, the latest phase will reach a larger number of students across the Arab world.
The collaboration forms part of the “AI for All” initiative introduced in 2024. Through this initiative, the partners aim to widen access to AI, develop essential skills and support related research.
Additionally, the initiative encourages the development of AI solutions that benefit different parts of society. Overall, the programme strengthens the country’s technology ecosystem while preparing younger generations for the future economy.
