Dubai International Financial Centre (DIFC) has surpassed 2,000 AI, FinTech and innovation firms, marking a major milestone in Dubai’s digital economy. The announcement came during the second day of Dubai Future Finance Week on 3 November 2026.
Meanwhile, the Dubai FinTech Summit highlighted new research into digital transformation, financial innovation and emerging technologies. The event also explored sustainable finance, alternative investments and long-term capital deployment.
Held under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Maktoum bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the event supports Dubai’s Economic Agenda D33. The strategy aims to position Dubai among the world’s four leading financial centres.
DIFC’s AI and FinTech Ecosystem Reaches New Milestone
During the Dubai FinTech Summit, His Excellency Arif Amiri, Chief Executive Officer of DIFC Authority, announced the latest milestone. DIFC now hosts more than 2,000 companies operating across artificial intelligence, financial technology and innovation.
Notably, the achievement comes less than a decade after DIFC launched its vision to transform the future of finance. The initiative began with FinTech Hive, the region’s first and largest financial technology accelerator.
Since then, DIFC has expanded its innovation ecosystem by attracting technology companies, investors and financial institutions. Furthermore, its infrastructure supports emerging businesses seeking to develop, test and scale financial technologies internationally.
His Excellency Arif Amiri, Chief Executive Officer of DIFC Authority, said:
“FinTech has played a defining role in transforming financial services and remains central to the future of finance. DIFC’s thriving ecosystem now includes more than 2,000 AI, FinTech and innovation firms, reflecting Dubai’s determination to remain at the forefront of the industry. Our ambition is not simply to attract promising businesses, but to give them the environment, connections and capabilities they need to scale globally. We are now creating the conditions for the next wave of growth which will ensure we continue to position Dubai as the world’s number one city for FinTech.”
Additionally, the summit brought together influential leaders from international banking, technology, government and financial markets.
A signature session featured Noel Quinn, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Julius Baer Group. The discussion reflected DIFC’s longstanding relationship with the financial institution, which became its first financial services firm in 2004.
Other prominent speakers included H.E. Dr. Tariq Bin Hendi, CEO and Board Member of Astra Tech, and H.E. Dr. Fatih Karahan, Governor of the Central Bank of Turkey.
Furthermore, Hamed Ali, Chief Executive Officer of Dubai Financial Market and Nasdaq Dubai, joined the programme.
The speaker line-up also featured H.E. Fahad Al Gergawi, UAE Undersecretary of the Ministry of Foreign Trade, and Toon Gyssels, CEO of Talabat.
Together, these discussions highlighted Dubai’s expanding influence across financial services, digital infrastructure and international investment.
Digital Economy 2.0 Report Forecasts Major FinTech Growth
Alongside the ecosystem announcement, DIFC and research partner Asia House launched the Digital Economy 2.0 report.
Michael Lawrence OBE, Chief Executive Officer of Asia House, presented the research during the Dubai FinTech Summit.
The report examines how investment, skilled talent and progressive regulation can accelerate the next phase of digital economic development.
Moreover, it identifies Dubai’s innovation-focused business environment as a competitive advantage for financial technology companies. The emirate’s digital infrastructure and regulatory ecosystem provide opportunities for businesses developing next-generation financial services.
According to the report, global technology spending is forecast to reach USD 5.6 trillion in 2026.
Meanwhile, artificial intelligence could contribute USD 22.3 trillion to the global economy by 2030. This projection highlights AI’s potential influence across financial services, business operations and digital infrastructure.
Additionally, the research forecasts that the global FinTech market will reach USD 1.5 trillion by 2030.
These projections indicate substantial opportunities for companies developing AI-powered financial solutions, digital payment systems and emerging financial technologies.
Consequently, access to capital, specialised talent and supportive regulation will remain important for businesses seeking international expansion.
The findings also reinforce Dubai’s efforts to attract technology investment and strengthen its position as a global innovation centre.
