OpenClaw has added DeepSeek’s V4 Flash and V4 Pro models to its bundled catalog, marking a rapid integration just days after their release. As a result, V4 Flash now serves as the default model for onboarding new users. Additionally, the update introduces fixes to improve thinking and replay functions during follow-up tool calls.

OpenClaw, which gained traction quickly on GitHub since early 2026, continues to expand its model-agnostic approach. Therefore, users can still connect external APIs while benefiting from built-in model options. This integration reflects a broader shift toward faster adoption cycles in open-source AI ecosystems.

DeepSeek V4 Capabilities and Cost Advantage

DeepSeek’s V4 series delivers significant performance gains over earlier models. While V4 Pro includes 1.6 trillion parameters, V4 Flash focuses on efficiency with a smaller active set. Moreover, both models support a one-million-token context window, enabling more complex reasoning tasks.

In addition, pricing remains highly competitive, which positions V4 Flash as a cost-effective choice for developers.
