Dubai Launches Middle East’s First Museum of Digital Art in DIFC

Dubai Museum of Digital Art launch

Dubai has launched the Museum of Digital Art (MODA), marking the region’s first museum dedicated to digital art and emerging technologies. Located within the DIFC Zabeel District expansion, the museum represents a major step in expanding Dubai’s cultural and creative ecosystem.

Her Highness Sheikha Latifa bint Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum said, “The Museum of Digital Art reflects Dubai’s long-term vision of culture as a catalyst for innovation, knowledge, and human connection. As the first institution of its kind in the region, it marks a significant milestone in the evolution of Dubai’s cultural ecosystem and reinforces our commitment to shaping a future where creativity and technology converge to expand the boundaries of artistic expression.”

The launch coincided with the 20th edition of Art Dubai, highlighting the city’s growing influence in the global arts space. Over the years, Dubai has steadily strengthened its cultural identity through platforms that support artists, institutions, and creative communities.

Immersive experiences and future-focused innovation

Spanning five floors, the museum will combine art, technology, and innovation through immersive exhibitions, interactive experiences, educational programmes, and research initiatives. Additionally, the museum will feature both permanent and temporary exhibitions designed to encourage experimentation and collaboration.

Essa Kazim remarked that, “For more than two decades, DIFC has played an important role in shaping Dubai’s standing as a global center for art and culture, creating a platform where creativity, commerce, and community intersect. The Museum of Digital Art represents a natural evolution of DIFC’s art legacy and reflects our commitment to advancing Dubai’s cultural ambitions through innovation and future-focused, globally relevant experiences.”

The museum will also introduce a “digital twin,” allowing global audiences to access and interact with exhibitions remotely. Meanwhile, dedicated educational spaces will help develop future creative talent by blending culture with advanced technology.

Supporting Dubai’s creative economy ambitions

Dubai officials see MODA as more than a museum. Instead, it forms part of the city’s long-term strategy to strengthen cultural tourism, innovation, and creative investment.

Hala Badri said, “The museum is an interactive space where creativity meets advanced technology, fostering innovation among artists and giving them the room to develop ideas and strengthen their place in the cultural landscape.”

The museum aligns with the Dubai Economic Agenda D33 and the Dubai Creative Economy Strategy. As a result, it is expected to boost the contribution of cultural industries to the local economy while reinforcing Dubai’s status as a global creative hub.
