Huawei Unveils 2026 MateBook Fold Laptop

Huawei MateBook Fold foldable laptop

Huawei has introduced the 2026 MateBook Fold Ultimate Design, bringing updated hardware and durability improvements to its flagship foldable laptop. The second-generation device retains its signature 18-inch foldable OLED display while adding the new Kirin X90 Plus processor, HarmonyOS 6.1, and enhanced AI capabilities for productivity and creative workloads.

The refreshed MateBook Fold unfolds into an 18-inch workspace and folds into a compact 13-inch laptop form factor. Moreover, Huawei has preserved the device’s lightweight 1.16 kg design while improving structural durability and introducing new color options for the 2026 model.

Performance and display receive major upgrades

Huawei equips the new laptop with the Kirin X90 Plus chipset, delivering higher performance than the previous generation. In addition, the device runs HarmonyOS 6.1, which introduces AI-powered productivity features and tighter integration with Huawei’s ecosystem of smartphones, tablets, and accessories.

The 18-inch dual-layer LTPO OLED display supports a 120 Hz refresh rate, reaches up to 1,600 nits of peak brightness, and delivers a 3.3K resolution. Consequently, users can switch between a full-sized desktop experience and a compact laptop mode while maintaining vivid visuals and smooth performance.

Huawei has also improved the hinge mechanism, claiming up to ten times greater bending resistance than the original model. Furthermore, the redesigned structure enhances durability while maintaining the laptop’s slim profile for portable computing.

Huawei expands its foldable PC strategy

The 2026 MateBook Fold continues Huawei’s push into foldable computing after launching the first-generation model in 2025. Rather than introducing a completely new design, the company focused on refining performance, durability, and software integration to strengthen its premium laptop lineup.

Huawei currently offers the MateBook Fold in China, with pricing starting at 24,999 yuan. Meanwhile, the company continues expanding its HarmonyOS-powered PC ecosystem as it develops alternatives to traditional Windows-based laptops. The latest model reinforces Huawei’s long-term strategy of combining foldable hardware, in-house silicon, and AI features into a unified computing platform.
