Generated Humans: AI creates 100,000 Full-Body images of People Who Don’t Exist

People who don’t keep up with the current trends may be startled by some of the new possibilities AI opens up. AI technology is developing quickly.

AI is making it simpler and easier to create convincing-looking but completely phoney images of individuals. One business is now trying to put these images to use by making 100,000 AI-generated faces available to everyone for free. Many photographs appear false, although some are hard to tell apart from pictures obtained through stock photo agencies.

Generated Photos is one of the many AI companies producing realistic photographs of hypothetical humans. Faces were initially present, but now those faces also have bodies.

The project, Generated Humans, is a collection of 100,000 free whole-body photographs of humans who appear genuine but are entirely artificial. The business claims that depending on how it plays out, and this series may either be the “worst nightmare of modelling agencies” or the start of “new amazing chances.”

The benefits of these nonexistent models include never having to worry about likeness rights and not having to sign model releases. The “pictures” are GDPR and CCPA compliant, claims Generated Photos.

The designers developed a proprietary dataset by capturing thousands of photographs of individuals in its studio, from which the full-body shots are drawn. The company claims that because the images are shot in a controlled setting, “we can ensure that each face has a consistent look and quality.” Additionally, several races are shown to make up for the lack of diversity in machine learning and fashion.

After inputting into several generative adversarial networks (GANs), the images are then used to create subjects that have never previously been seen.

As long as you provide link acknowledgement to generate photos, you may use the photographs for free for non-commercial uses. The staff assures you that you won’t need to “think about legal problems.” However, licenses are required for those wishing to use AI-generated characters in commercial endeavours.

A group of twenty AI and photography professionals called Generated Photos believes that Generated Humans would have “even greater job possibilities” than AI-generated faces. The models in the metaverse, art, fashion, game creation, merchandising, academic research, and machine learning, among other fields, are predicted to have a bright future.

Uses of Technology

The corporation acknowledges that its product has been used in some unusual ways. The prevention of crime is one such instance.

“Our images aid law enforcement in apprehending felons and paedophiles online. As this includes personal information and matters still active in court, we cannot provide much information about it, the business notes.

The resulting images were put on a website for COVID-19 patients in the United States to demonstrate the coronavirus’s enormous effects on the nation. Each of the 535,000 faces represented a victim of the illness.

Another intriguing instance included a retired librarian who battled age discrimination by applying for remote jobs using an AI image that resembled a younger version of herself.

Moving Forward

The business behind Generated Photos, Generated Media, already operates a Face Generator program and aims to develop it into a complete body generator.

The full-body AI samples available right now are all of young, trim individuals. The business intends to diversify by offering customers a variety of ages, body kinds, positions, and outfits.
