Mangmi Air Y and Air Y Pro Unveiled as New Android Gaming Handhelds
Mangmi has unveiled the Air Y and Air Y Pro, its first Android gaming handhelds of 2026. Unlike the company’s previous horizontal console, the new devices adopt a vertical layout aimed at retro gaming enthusiasts who prefer a compact, portable form factor.
New design brings improved gaming flexibility
The Air Y series marks Mangmi’s entry into the growing vertical handheld market. Although the company has shared only limited details, both models will feature a Qualcomm processor, a display between 4 and 5 inches, and LED-lit analog sticks.
However, the two handhelds differ in their control layouts. The standard Air Y includes a single analog stick, while the Air Y Pro offers dual analog sticks. As a result, the Pro model provides better support for games that rely on two-stick controls.
Additionally, the Android operating system and Qualcomm chipset could offer wider software compatibility. Besides retro emulation, users can expect access to native Android games and cloud gaming services.
Air Y builds on Air X success
Mangmi gained recognition with the Air X, an Android 14 gaming handheld powered by the Snapdragon 662 processor. The console launched in September 2025 with a retail price of $89.99 and quickly attracted attention for delivering strong PlayStation 2 and GameCube emulation at an affordable price.
Since then, the Air X has expanded its availability through additional retail channels. Meanwhile, the new Air Y lineup enters a competitive market that already includes several vertical gaming handhelds. Nevertheless, Mangmi’s choice of Android and Qualcomm hardware could give it an advantage in software support and overall versatility.
The company has not announced pricing, release dates, or complete specifications for either model. Even so, gaming enthusiasts have already begun speculating about the devices’ pricing and performance. More official details are expected in the coming weeks.
