Hisense A10 Unveils Detachable Color Display for E-Ink Smartphones

Hisense A10 dual-display smartphone

Hisense has officially introduced the A10, a dual-display e-ink smartphone that brings a fresh concept to the niche market. Instead of using a fixed secondary screen, the device features a magnetic, detachable color LCD panel on the back that users can attach or remove whenever needed.

Modular design offers greater flexibility

The A10 features a 6.13-inch monochrome E-Ink display on the front, which supports long reading sessions with reduced eye strain and improved power efficiency. Meanwhile, the detachable color LCD panel connects magnetically to the rear of the phone.

Unlike some competing dual-display devices that permanently attach the second screen, the A10 allows users to remove it completely. As a result, they can switch between a full-featured smartphone and a lightweight, distraction-free e-reader.

Users can attach the color display for activities such as social media, watching videos, or reading comics. However, they can remove it when they want a simpler reading experience.

Additionally, the smartphone is expected to feature a 4nm octa-core processor, likely Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset. It will also support 5G connectivity and run Android 16.

Pricing, availability and market position

Hisense is expected to launch the A10 in China with a starting price of approximately CNY 3,999 (around $590). However, the company has not confirmed a global release.

Notably, reports suggest the detachable color display may not come in the retail package. Instead, buyers may need to purchase the magnetic screen separately as an optional accessory.

The A10 also marks Hisense’s return to the e-ink smartphone segment after introducing the Hisense A9 in 2022. Earlier this year, the company began teasing the device and indicated a mid-2026 launch timeframe.

Although e-ink smartphones continue to serve a niche audience, the A10 introduces a modular approach that sets it apart from existing competitors. Nevertheless, it remains unclear whether consumers will embrace purchasing the phone’s signature detachable display as an additional accessory.
