QYSEA and Aramco Advance Saudi Underwater Technology

QYSEA Aramco Underwater Technology MoU Signing

QYSEA Technology has signed a strategic memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Aramco to advance underwater robotics, marine monitoring, and intelligent inspection capabilities in Saudi Arabia. The agreement supports environmental protection and the development of local maritime technology expertise.

Announced on September 24, 2026, the partnership forms part of QYSEA’s broader efforts to expand its presence in the Kingdom. Moreover, the collaboration aligns with Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030 objectives for industrial development and sustainable maritime operations.

Underwater Intelligence and Environmental Monitoring

QYSEA signed the agreement with Aramco’s Green Energy & Environmental Policy Department on July 14, 2026. The signing took place during the Sustainability Technology Partnership MoU ceremony.

The agreement focuses on using underwater intelligence to monitor marine biodiversity and habitats. Accordingly, both organisations will explore underwater robotics, AI-enabled inspections, and digital marine workflows.

These technologies could support environmental monitoring, marine conservation, and sustainable operations. They could also improve how operators inspect and manage underwater infrastructure.

According to QYSEA CEO Belinda Zhang, Saudi Arabia represents a strategic market for the company. She highlighted the Kingdom’s priorities across energy, maritime infrastructure, and environmental protection.

Furthermore, Zhang said the agreement establishes a framework for applying underwater intelligence to biodiversity and habitat monitoring. She also emphasised the importance of developing local technical and service capabilities alongside advanced technology.

QYSEA Showcases AI-Powered Underwater Robotics

On July 15, QYSEA hosted its inaugural Saudi Maritime Technology Partner Forum in Al Khobar. The event brought together Aramco representatives, local partners, service providers, and maritime industry stakeholders.

Discussions covered underwater operations across offshore energy, marine infrastructure, ports, coastal assets, and environmental monitoring. Meanwhile, QYSEA demonstrated several industrial underwater AI solutions designed for professional applications.

The demonstrations featured remotely operated vehicle (ROV) platforms, navigation and positioning technologies, AI-enabled inspection workflows, and integrated data capabilities.

In particular, the company showcased its X1 and E-MASTER NAVI robotic systems. These demonstrations highlighted several potential operational benefits:

  • More consistent and repeatable underwater inspections.
  • Standardised data collection for industrial applications.
  • Reduced exposure of divers to underwater hazards.
  • Improved field efficiency and faster operational decisions.

Building Local Maritime Technology Capabilities

Beyond technology demonstrations, QYSEA outlined plans to develop its local presence through technical training, product support, and collaboration with Saudi partners.

The company also intends to pursue joint market development with local service providers. Consequently, these activities could help strengthen technical expertise and operational readiness within the Kingdom.

The proposed cooperation covers marine inspection, offshore energy, industrial infrastructure, and environmental monitoring. However, the announcement describes a framework for cooperation and exploration rather than a confirmed commercial deployment schedule.

QYSEA says it will continue working with Saudi partners to develop practical underwater technology applications. The initiative supports the broader adoption of intelligent robotics for safer and more sustainable maritime operations.
