Dubai has completed its first Air Taxi station, marking a major step toward future mobility. Notably, Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum announced the milestone as part of the emirate’s long-term transport vision. As a result, the station will serve as the main hub for air taxi operations across the city.

Moreover, the announcement coincided with World Public Transport Day, reinforcing Dubai’s focus on sustainable mobility. Sheikh Hamdan noted that, “Today, we take another step forward with the completion of the first Air Taxi Station, reaffirming our commitment to shaping the future of mobility. Expanding transport options, from the metro and buses to smart and air mobility, remains central to building a global city that puts people first.”

In addition, he emphasized long-term goals. “We remain committed to developing an integrated, multi-level transport ecosystem based on advanced technologies, while expanding options for residents and visitors across the emirate in ways that enhance quality of life and improve overall efficiency. The launch of the Air Taxi infrastructure marks an important step in adopting new, sustainable modes of transport and strengthening Dubai’s readiness for the decades ahead,” His Highness remarked.

Advanced Infrastructure and Partnerships

The purpose-built station sits near Dubai International Airport and features advanced infrastructure. Specifically, it includes a four-storey building, two landing pads, and dedicated charging systems for eVTOL aircraft. Furthermore, climate-controlled passenger areas can handle up to 170,000 travelers annually.

Meanwhile, Skyports Infrastructure leads design and development, while Joby Aviation manages aircraft operations. At the same time, the Roads and Transport Authority oversees integration with the wider transport network. Therefore, this coordinated approach ensures efficiency and safety across all stages.

Dubai officials also highlighted the project’s broader impact. Consequently, the station supports a smart mobility ecosystem that aligns with global transport trends. In turn, it strengthens Dubai’s position as a testing ground for innovative urban solutions.

Faster Travel and Future Expansion

Authorities are now preparing for commercial operations by the end of the year. For example, a trip from the airport to Palm Jumeirah could take about 10 minutes instead of 45 minutes by car. As a result, passengers will benefit from faster and more seamless travel across key destinations.

In addition, officials plan to expand the network. Future stations will cover areas such as Dubai Marina and Downtown Dubai. Therefore, the city aims to create a connected air mobility system by 2026.

“The delivery of the Air Taxi Station by Skyports Infrastructure near Dubai International Airport reflects the progress made by RTA in advancing a smart and sustainable mobility ecosystem, built on the integration of various transport modes and aligned with global transformations in urban mobility,” the Director General added.
