Google Xreal Aura Mixed Reality Glasses Launch in November Starting at $1,099

Xreal Aura mixed reality glasses

Google and Xreal are preparing to launch the Xreal Aura mixed reality glasses in mid-November 2026. The device combines virtual reality features, augmented displays and AI capabilities in a lightweight, portable design. Moreover, preorders have opened, with promotional pricing starting at $1,099.

Unlike conventional VR headsets, the Aura uses transparent display glasses connected to a separate processor puck. Consequently, users can access immersive digital experiences without wearing a bulky headset.

Competitive Pricing and Android XR Integration

The Xreal Aura will initially cost less than previously announced. The 256GB model, featuring 12GB RAM, starts at $1,099 instead of $1,279. Meanwhile, the 512GB version with 16GB RAM costs $1,299, down from $1,500. These promotional prices remain available through the end of 2026.

Powered by Google’s Android XR platform, the glasses support Android applications in both traditional 2D and immersive 3D environments. Furthermore, users can access applications compatible with the Samsung Galaxy XR headset.

The Aura also supports hand tracking, allowing users to navigate applications through gestures such as pinching and scrolling. Additionally, wireless keyboards and gaming controllers provide alternative interaction methods.

Users can connect the glasses to smartphones, laptops and other compatible USB-C video-output devices. As a result, the Aura can function as a portable virtual monitor or an extended digital workspace.

Portable Computing Meets AI-Powered Experiences

The Xreal Aura represents another step towards making immersive computing more practical and accessible. Its design combines lightweight glasses with a dedicated processor, reducing the need for bulky headsets.

The technology builds on years of augmented reality development, including earlier generations of display glasses. However, the Aura introduces a more comprehensive combination of immersive computing, portable productivity and artificial intelligence.

Notably, Google’s Gemini AI integration could enable new interactions through connected cameras and displays. Additionally, the device features a folding keyboard accessory, while its processor puck doubles as a trackpad.

Together, these features could support productivity tasks traditionally associated with laptops and tablets. Furthermore, the compact design allows users to access virtual workspaces without carrying conventional monitors.

The Aura also supports gaming accessories, including a controller featuring a dedicated Gemini button. Consequently, users could move between entertainment, AI assistance and productivity applications within a single computing environment.

Transparent Displays Expand Mixed Reality Possibilities

The Aura features microOLED displays with a 70-degree field of view, creating immersive visuals within transparent lenses. Additionally, electrochromic dimming technology adjusts lens transparency to accommodate different environments.

Unlike traditional VR headsets, the glasses overlay digital content onto the user’s surroundings. Therefore, they could support outdoor applications and location-based augmented reality experiences.

Although the Aura requires an external processor for its Android XR functions, its lightweight design offers greater portability than conventional immersive headsets.

Meanwhile, competition in wearable computing continues to intensify. Meta is preparing its VR glasses for next spring, while Snap is developing its next-generation Specs platform.

The Aura’s combination of Android applications, Gemini integration and flexible display connectivity could strengthen its position in this emerging market. However, its potential to replace everyday computing devices remains unproven.

Ultimately, the November launch will provide an important opportunity to assess whether lightweight mixed reality glasses can deliver practical productivity alongside immersive entertainment.
