Apple’s October 28 Event Could Redefine the MacBook Pro

Apple October 28 MacBook Event

Apple has scheduled a product event for October 28 in Los Angeles, where it could introduce its first touchscreen MacBook Pro. The gathering, called “Pro and tell”, will begin at 10am Pacific Time (9pm UAE time).

The company announced the event on October 19, with marketing chief Greg Joswiak sharing a teaser on social media. Additionally, selected journalists have received invitations to attend the gathering. However, Apple has yet to confirm which products it plans to unveil.

Touchscreen MacBook Pro Could Lead Announcements

A redesigned MacBook Pro with an OLED touchscreen could headline the event, according to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman. Apple is reportedly developing 14-inch and 16-inch versions, potentially introducing touchscreen functionality to its MacBook lineup for the first time.

Moreover, the new laptops could feature Dynamic Island, replacing the camera notch on current MacBook Pro models. The interactive display area, already familiar to iPhone users, could offer a different way to access notifications and controls.

Reports also suggest that the upcoming laptops could feature lighter designs and Apple’s M5 Pro and M5 Max processors. Consequently, the changes could represent a significant shift in Apple’s laptop strategy.

Until now, Apple has reserved touchscreen functionality for devices such as the iPad and iPhone. However, the reported redesign could bring touch interaction to its premium MacBook range.

New iMac and OLED iPad Mini Expected

Alongside the touchscreen MacBook Pro, Apple could introduce an updated 14-inch MacBook Pro and a refreshed 24-inch iMac. Both devices could feature the company’s M6 processor, according to reports.

Unlike the anticipated touchscreen models, these computers could retain their existing designs. Instead, processor upgrades would deliver the main improvements.

Meanwhile, Apple could unveil a redesigned iPad mini featuring an OLED display. The smaller tablet could also receive an improved speaker system and a repositioned front-facing camera for landscape video calls.

However, Apple has not confirmed these specifications, and the reported products remain subject to change ahead of the announcement.

Event Format and UAE Availability

Unlike Apple’s traditional product launches, the October 28 gathering will reportedly focus on an in-person media experience. Selected journalists could receive hands-on access to the new devices.

Additionally, Apple may publish product announcements through its website and official press releases. However, the company has not announced a public livestream.

The upcoming event follows Apple’s October 13 smart-home announcements, which included the HomeView display, a new Apple TV 4K and the second-generation HomePod mini.

Meanwhile, UAE customers will have to wait for further information about the anticipated devices. Apple has yet to announce pricing, pre-order dates or local availability for the expected Macs and iPad mini.
