Google Expands Gemini With 13 App Integrations
Google is expanding Gemini’s role as an AI assistant by connecting it with more apps and services. The move gives users more ways to complete tasks without switching between applications.
The expansion follows Google’s broader push to make Gemini more capable of taking actions. In recent months, Gemini has gained access to services including Google Workspace, Google Photos, YouTube, Search and Google Contacts.
Gemini Moves Beyond Basic Conversations
With these connections, users can ask Gemini to work with information across supported services. For example, Google’s Personal Intelligence feature allows Gemini to use selected information from Gmail, Photos, YouTube and Search. Users can control which services they connect.
Meanwhile, Google has expanded Gemini’s third-party capabilities. Canva, Instacart, OpenTable and other services are being added through connected apps and Gemini Spark. These integrations allow Gemini to handle practical tasks such as designing content, ordering groceries and making reservations.
Furthermore, Gemini can now work with Google Keep and Tasks through Spark. Users can, for instance, turn notes into actionable tasks across those services.
A Broader Push Toward Agentic AI
Google is also positioning Gemini as an agent rather than simply a conversational chatbot. Gemini Spark can operate in the background, follow recurring instructions and create multi-step workflows. It can also work with third-party services through Model Context Protocol support.
At the same time, Google is extending connected apps into AI Mode in Search. Recent additions include YouTube Music, Canva and Instacart, allowing users to create playlists, explore design templates and build shopping carts through conversational prompts.
Therefore, the latest integrations reflect Google’s larger strategy for Gemini. The company wants the assistant to understand personal context, access relevant services and complete tasks across applications. Gemini already serves hundreds of millions of monthly users, while Google continues expanding its agentic capabilities.
