Samsung Electronics has reportedly secured its first semiconductor manufacturing contract from Neuralink, Elon Musk’s brain-computer interface company. The agreement marks a significant milestone for Samsung Foundry as it expands into the rapidly emerging neurotechnology sector.
According to industry reports, Samsung will develop and manufacture Neuralink’s fourth-generation brain implant chip using its advanced 4-nanometer process technology. As a result, the partnership strengthens Samsung’s position in high-performance semiconductor manufacturing while expanding its relationship with Musk-led ventures.
Fourth-Generation Neuralink Chip Under Development
Reports indicate that Samsung began research and development work on the new chip in late 2025. Furthermore, the processor, internally known as “O1,” is designed to power Neuralink’s next generation of brain-computer interface systems.
The chip will support Neuralink’s efforts to enhance communication between the human brain and digital devices. In addition, the technology aims to improve the performance and capabilities of future neural implants used by patients with neurological conditions.
Sources suggest that Samsung has already started producing test chips. Meanwhile, initial shipments are expected during the first half of 2027. If testing proceeds successfully, mass production could begin later that year.
