Samsung Unveils Galaxy Book6 Edge With Snapdragon X2 Elite

Samsung Galaxy Book6 Edge laptop

Samsung has introduced the Galaxy Book6 Edge, a new 16-inch laptop powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon X2 Elite processor. As a result, it becomes the first consumer laptop to launch with Qualcomm’s latest ARM-based chip. The device is currently available exclusively through Samsung’s online store in the United States for $2,099.99.

Samsung positions the laptop as an AI-focused productivity machine that emphasizes on-device processing. Consequently, users can access advanced AI capabilities without relying heavily on cloud services. The neural processing unit delivers up to 80 trillion operations per second, nearly double the 45 TOPS benchmark associated with the first generation of Copilot+ PCs in 2024.

Premium Hardware Focuses on Performance and Portability

The Snapdragon X2 Elite features an 18-core CPU based on Qualcomm’s third-generation Oryon architecture. Specifically, the chip includes 12 prime cores running at up to 4.7 GHz and six performance cores operating at 3.4 GHz.

The US model comes with 16GB of LPDDR5X memory and a 1TB SSD. However, users cannot upgrade the memory after purchase. Samsung pairs the processor with a 16-inch Dynamic AMOLED 2X display featuring a 2,880 × 1,800 resolution and a 120Hz refresh rate.

Meanwhile, the laptop measures just 12.3mm thick and weighs 1.55kg. According to Samsung, it is the thinnest Galaxy Book ever produced. In addition, the device offers up to 22 hours of battery life and supports 65W USB-C charging through a 61.8Wh battery.

Connectivity options include two USB 4.0 Type-C ports, one USB-A port, HDMI 2.1, a microSD card reader, Wi-Fi 7, and Bluetooth.

Limited RAM Option Raises Questions

Despite its premium positioning, the Galaxy Book6 Edge has attracted attention for its memory configuration. Samsung currently sells only a 16GB RAM version in the US market, although some international regions receive a 32GB option.

As AI applications become increasingly memory-intensive, some observers have questioned whether 16GB of non-upgradeable RAM is sufficient for long-term AI workloads. Nevertheless, Samsung continues to market the device as a powerful AI PC designed for productivity and everyday performance.

The Galaxy Book6 Edge succeeds the Galaxy Book4 Edge, which launched in both 14-inch and 16-inch versions. This time, however, Samsung offers only a single 16-inch model in Gray Blue.
