Amazon to Cut More Corporate Jobs Next Week

Amazon office layoffs announcement report

Amazon is preparing a second round of layoffs that could begin next week. The company is moving toward cutting about 30,000 corporate roles. At the same time, it is working to reduce bureaucracy and adopt AI-driven efficiencies.

A second round of cuts could start as soon as Tuesday

Amazon is planning a second round of job cuts next week. The company previously cut about 14,000 white-collar jobs in October 2025. As a result, that earlier move accounted for about half of the 30,000 target.

The total number of layoffs this time is expected to be roughly the same as last year. Additionally, the cuts could begin as soon as Tuesday.

Key business units may be affected

The layoffs are expected to affect roles across several business areas. Specifically, jobs in Amazon Web Services, retail, Prime Video, and human resources are expected to be impacted. However, the full scope remains unclear.

An Amazon spokesperson declined to comment.

AI and efficiency efforts remain central

Amazon previously linked its October job cuts to the rise of artificial intelligence software. The company has also emphasized the role of AI-driven efficiencies and reducing bureaucracy as part of its broader restructuring.

Meanwhile, many corporations are increasingly using AI to write code and automate routine tasks to reduce costs. In addition, Amazon showcased new AI models during its annual AWS cloud computing conference in December.

The full 30,000 job cuts would represent a small portion of Amazon’s 1.58 million employees. Even so, it would amount to nearly 10% of the company’s corporate workforce. Most of its workers are in fulfillment centers and warehouses.

If completed, this would be the largest layoff in the company’s three-decade history. Previously, it trimmed about 27,000 jobs in 2022.

In October, affected workers were told they would remain on the payroll for 90 days. During that time, they could apply for jobs internally or seek other employment. That 90-day period expires on Monday.
