A new Gemini feature now allows users to create entire Google Slides presentations from just a short text prompt or uploaded file. The tool expands Gemini’s creative capabilities, helping transform plain ideas or lengthy documents into themed and visually organized slide decks. Each presentation includes structured headings, relevant visuals, and clear layouts, making the process of building slides faster and more intuitive.
The update, recently introduced as part of Gemini’s growing “Canvas” functionality, showcases how AI can evolve from assisting with research to becoming an active content creator. With this feature, users can now produce fully formed presentations in seconds, saving valuable time that would otherwise go into manual design and formatting.
How to Generate Presentations with Gemini
Within the Gemini app on the web, users can access the “Canvas” option from the main toolbar and simply type a request such as “create a presentation.” The system then prompts users to provide a topic for instance, “a lesson on the Roman Republic” or to upload a related file like a research report, class notes, or a sales brief.
After analyzing the material, Gemini automatically composes a multi-slide presentation complete with relevant sections, summaries, and visuals. Once generated, the presentation can be exported directly to Google Slides for further customization, collaboration, or sharing. This streamlined workflow allows users to skip repetitive setup steps and focus on refining content.
Who Can Use the Feature and When
Gemini’s new slide-generation capability supports a diverse range of users. Professionals can instantly transform detailed reports or proposals into visually engaging pitch decks. Educators can turn lesson outlines into complete classroom presentations filled with structured explanations and imagery. Similarly, students can convert essays or notes into clear, organized slides for academic discussions and projects.
The rollout is currently in progress and will be available to all eligible users by 12 November 2025. The feature is accessible on Gemini’s web and mobile web versions, with Android and iOS integration expected soon. This update demonstrates how AI continues to simplify creative workflows, making presentation design both faster and smarter.
