Last year, Google launched Gemini Live, an AI-powered feature that enables natural, free-flowing conversations with its chatbot. Users could talk back and forth, share their screen, brainstorm ideas, and get information about the world around them using the phone camera. However, the feature initially lacked integration with other Google services.
Now, Google is adding the much-anticipated ability to access apps like Keep and Tasks during real-time conversations with Gemini Live. This new functionality appears as a chip above the full-screen controls, complete with a circular loading indicator, similar to what you see when using a Google service inside the Gemini app.
How the Integration Works
Users can directly ask Gemini Live to open Google’s first-party apps or use general voice commands such as, “Do I have any reminders today?” The integration also works while sharing the screen with Gemini. To check if it is active, open the Gemini app, tap the Live button in the bottom right corner, and look for small chips showing connected apps in use.
For example, Gemini Live can check your daily events, create new ones with voice commands, or scan details like date and time through the camera and add them to your calendar. With Google Maps, it can guide you to a specific location and create navigation links, although it does not start navigation automatically for certain events.
Supported Apps and Availability
The update also supports Tasks and Keep, allowing Gemini Live to display saved lists and add notes directly to Keep. This integration is now available on both Android and iOS versions of Gemini Live. Importantly, it works for both free and paid Gemini users, making the experience more seamless and versatile across devices.
