Mukesh Ambani Envisions India as a Global Hub for Artificial Intelligence
At the NVIDIA AI Summit held in Mumbai, NVIDIA CEO Jensen Huang and Reliance Industries Chairman Mukesh Ambani announced a groundbreaking partnership to establish state-of-the-art AI infrastructure in India. This collaboration positions India as a significant player in the global AI landscape.
Mukesh Ambani highlighted India’s potential to emerge as one of the world’s largest intelligence markets. “Our hopes aren’t just driven by ambition, but by India’s raw gene pool and youth power,” he stated. Ambani emphasized that India’s contributions to AI would extend beyond local markets to impact the global stage.
Ambani called for a “Jio-like paradigm shift” in the AI sector, drawing parallels to Reliance Jio’s transformative impact on digital connectivity in India. “Jio made data affordable and accessible to every Indian. Now, we need to make AI affordable and accessible to the common man,” he explained.
Ambani also noted that India boasts one of the world’s best digital infrastructures, second only to the US and China. He shared that Jio has delivered 16 hexabytes of data this year at a mere $0.15 per GB, compared to the US average of $5 per GB. He added, “Indians will no longer just export CEOs to global companies but will deliver AI services to create a better world.”
Jensen Huang echoed Ambani’s optimism, predicting that India would transition from exporting software to becoming a global leader in AI exports. “India will be at the center of the new industrial revolution,” Huang remarked.
This partnership marks a pivotal step in India’s journey toward becoming a global hub for AI innovation and services.
