Google Gemini Surpasses 1 Billion Monthly Users Worldwide
Google’s Gemini app has surpassed 1 billion monthly active users, marking a major milestone for the company’s artificial intelligence platform. Furthermore, Google CEO Sundar Pichai announced that Gemini has become the fastest-growing product in the company’s history to reach this user milestone.
Additionally, Gemini has become the 14th product from Google to cross the 1 billion monthly user mark. The achievement places Gemini alongside OpenAI’s ChatGPT, which reached the same milestone in June 2026. Pichai shared the announcement on X while congratulating Josh Woodward, VP at Google Labs, and the Gemini team.
How Users Are Adopting Gemini AI
According to official updates, Gemini users are increasingly relying on the assistant for everyday activities. Currently, 63% of users interact with Gemini through voice features, while parents are 43% more likely than other users to use voice assistance for daily tasks.
Moreover, one in five Gemini Live interactions now includes live camera feeds and screen sharing. As a result, users can receive real-time support for tasks that require visual understanding and interactive assistance.
Meanwhile, Gemini generates more than 150 million images every day. Additionally, small businesses are using the platform to create marketing content across images, videos and audio formats.
On Android devices, Gemini can also automate actions across more than 40 popular applications. Therefore, users can complete tasks such as booking rides and making restaurant reservations more efficiently.
Gemini’s Rapid Growth and Future Expansion
Gemini’s user base has grown significantly over the past year. Specifically, the platform increased from around 650 million monthly active users in October 2025 to 750 million by February 2026. Furthermore, it reached 950 million users during Alphabet’s Q2 2026 earnings update in July.
Additionally, daily active users have tripled compared with the previous year. Beyond Google’s own ecosystem, Gemini has also expanded across Apple platforms, with more than 100 million active users on iOS and macOS.
Moreover, power users on these platforms are sending approximately twice as many prompts compared with users on other devices. This growth highlights Gemini’s increasing adoption among diverse user groups.
Upcoming Gemini Features and AI Developments
The announcement comes ahead of Google’s Made by Google event, where the company is expected to introduce more Gemini-powered features for Pixel devices. Furthermore, Google continues to develop new AI models, including Gemini 3.5 Flash.
The latest models aim to improve coding performance and autonomous AI-agent capabilities while reducing operational costs. Consequently, Gemini’s continued expansion reflects the growing competition in the global AI industry.
