Google has expanded its presence in European football by partnering with FC Barcelona and Bayern Munich within days of each other. Furthermore, the agreements highlight a broader effort to integrate artificial intelligence and hardware products into one of the world’s most popular sports.
FC Barcelona confirmed that Google Gemini will become the club’s Official Consumer AI Partner, while Google Pixel will serve as its Official Mobile Phone Partner. Additionally, the announcement followed Bayern Munich’s similar agreement, which named Gemini its first Official Consumer AI Partner and Pixel its Official Smartphone Partner from the 2026-27 season.
Google Builds Stronger Links With European Football Clubs
Moreover, these announcements follow a similar partnership with Paris Saint-Germain earlier in August. Together, the three agreements connect Google with major football clubs across Spain, Germany and France, reaching hundreds of millions of supporters worldwide.
According to industry reports, the Bayern Munich partnership strengthens Google’s existing involvement in football and global sports. Furthermore, the agreement is expected to continue for three years until 2029, creating long-term opportunities for AI-powered fan engagement.
AI and Mobile Technology Transform Fan Experiences
The partnerships follow a similar structure across clubs. Firstly, Google Gemini will act as a digital football assistant for supporters, providing AI-powered insights into tactics, matches and team developments. Meanwhile, Google Pixel will help create exclusive behind-the-scenes content featuring players and teams.
At FC Barcelona, Gemini will “transform matchday emotions into fan chants” and offer personalized experiences at the new Spotify Camp Nou. Additionally, Pixel will produce exclusive content that highlights players’ daily activities and experiences.
Similarly, Bayern Munich will share weekly behind-the-scenes footage from Allianz Arena and the club’s Säbener Straße training ground. Furthermore, the content will feature players including Jamal Musiala and Giulia Gwinn across official club channels.
Consequently, these partnerships demonstrate how artificial intelligence and mobile technology are becoming increasingly important tools for connecting football clubs with global audiences.
