Royal Enfield Introduces Its First Electric Motorcycle, the Flying Flea
Royal Enfield, the iconic motorcycle brand established in 1901, is embracing the electric vehicle revolution with the announcement of its first-ever electric bike, the Flying Flea. This marks a significant milestone for the world’s oldest motorcycle brand as it ventures into sustainable mobility.
In collaboration with Qualcomm, Royal Enfield has developed a custom version of the Snapdragon “Car-to-Cloud Platform” operating system, tailored exclusively for two-wheelers. The debut of Qualcomm’s Snapdragon QWM2290 chip in the Flying Flea highlights the integration of cutting-edge technology with Royal Enfield’s heritage.
Mario Alvisi, a representative of Royal Enfield, described the partnership with Qualcomm as the “perfect blend of classic design and advanced technology.” He emphasized that the Flying Flea will support over-the-air updates, ensuring the bike remains up-to-date with the latest features, potentially increasing its long-term value.
The Flying Flea is designed with a circular touchscreen display on the handlebars, offering a blend of modern convenience and familiar aesthetics. Riders can connect their phones to the bike using 4G, Bluetooth, or Wi-Fi for seamless integration. The bike supports both iOS and Android devices and features customizable ride modes to suit various preferences.
