CapCut to Bring Video Editing Tools to Google Gemini App

CapCut tools inside Google Gemini

CapCut is expanding its creative ecosystem through a new partnership with Google, bringing its video and image editing tools directly into the Gemini app. As a result, users will soon be able to edit content within Gemini instead of moving between separate platforms. This places CapCut alongside Adobe and Canva, which have also integrated creative capabilities into Google’s AI assistant.

A More Seamless Creative Workflow

With this integration, creators could potentially manage an entire production workflow inside Gemini, from brainstorming ideas to final export. Consequently, the process may become faster and more streamlined for content creators who rely on quick turnarounds. Although no exact release date has been confirmed, CapCut said the feature is “coming soon.”

This announcement follows a major wave of AI product launches at Google I/O 2026, where Google introduced several AI-focused updates and creative tools. Meanwhile, Adobe revealed its own Gemini connector that allows users to describe designs using natural language, while Canva announced a similar collaboration.

Competition in AI Creative Tools Heats Up

CapCut has become one of the most popular mobile editing platforms, especially among social media creators. Therefore, this integration could help Google attract a broader creator audience to Gemini. Additionally, the partnership builds on previous collaboration signals, including earlier testing around exporting Google Photos memories for editing in CapCut.

At the same time, competition in AI-powered creative software is accelerating. Meta launched Edits globally last year as a direct rival to CapCut, while Google recently introduced Pics, a new AI design app for Workspace.

However, some questions remain about how deeply CapCut’s editing tools will function inside Gemini. In particular, heavy video editing tasks may consume Gemini usage allowances quickly, which could affect how practical the integration becomes for power users.
