Tuwaiq Academy and Google Launch ALBUS Initiative
Tuwaiq Academy has launched the ALBUS initiative with Google for Education to integrate artificial intelligence and modern educational technologies into Saudi Arabia’s technical schools for gifted students. The initiative was launched at Tuwaiq Academy’s main campus in Riyadh.
The programme brings together Tuwaiq Academy, Google for Education, Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology. Moreover, Lenovo and Intel are participating as executive and technical partners.
According to the Saudi Press Agency, ALBUS is the first initiative of its kind in the Middle East to integrate AI and modern educational technologies into technical schools for gifted students.
ALBUS Brings AI Into Technical Education
The initiative will cover 10 technical schools for gifted students. These schools are located across Riyadh, Jeddah, Dammam, Madinah and Qassim.
Furthermore, ALBUS will reach more than 450 students and 100 teachers. The programme will also involve 15 certified trainers who will transfer technical expertise and support educator development.
The initiative uses Chromebooks, Google for Education tools and Gemini AI technologies. Therefore, students and teachers can access a broader set of digital learning tools within the participating schools.
The programme also focuses on improving educational outcomes and developing future-oriented technical skills. In addition, the initiative includes professional certification for educators using digital technologies and AI in classrooms.
Tuwaiq Academy CEO Abdulaziz Al-Hammadi said the launch reflects the academy’s commitment to developing a learning environment that enables teachers and students to benefit from modern technologies and strengthens their capabilities in technical fields.
He added that the initiative contributes to preparing a technologically advanced generation capable of leading the future and making an impact locally and globally.
Google Partnership Supports AI Skills
Google for Education is providing the technology platform behind the initiative. Meanwhile, the partnership gives Saudi technical schools access to tools designed around digital learning and artificial intelligence.
Tarek Bolbol, Head of Artificial Intelligence in Education for the Middle East, North Africa and Türkiye at Google for Education, said the partnership represents a pioneering model for integrating AI into education.
He also noted that cooperation with Tuwaiq Academy reflects Saudi Arabia’s progress in developing its digital educational infrastructure. According to Bolbol, the partnership can support more innovative and impactful learning experiences.
The initiative also involves teacher development. During the launch, organisers recognised trainers and teachers who obtained professional certifications, including Google Certified Educator and Gemini Teacher credentials.
Consequently, ALBUS combines classroom technology with educator training. This approach can help schools develop both technical capability and practical confidence in using AI tools.
The initiative also reflects a broader expansion of AI education in Saudi Arabia. Google and Tuwaiq Academy have previously collaborated on AI and cloud-computing programmes aimed at developing Saudi technical talent.
