AstraZeneca has announced the construction of a sustainable office at Dubai Science Park

AstraZeneca, a leading biopharmaceutical firm, has revealed its plans to build sustainable offices in Dubai Science Park in the United Arab Emirates. The company’s global green agenda and the UAE’s Year of Sustainability and ‘We the UAE 2031’ vision have inspired the move. The building, set to open in Q3 2023, will meet the highest standards of Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) set out by the US Green Building Council (USGBC). The LEED program is one of the most widely used green building rating systems in the world and signifies healthy, efficient, and carbon-saving buildings.

Marwan Abdulaziz Janahi, Senior Vice President of Dubai Science Park, emphasized the interconnectedness of sustainability and health, stating that AstraZeneca is a leading firm when it comes to promoting sustainability in healthcare.

By joining the community of global and regional businesses across the health, energy, and environment sectors, AstraZeneca can increase its efforts while maintaining its goal of promoting excellence in healthcare and research.

Similarly, Sameh El Fangary, GCC and Pakistan Cluster President of AstraZeneca, indicated that healthcare delivery requires every stakeholder to contribute to combating climate change. He added that the new green offices will enable the company to expand its local footprint in the UAE, aligning with the government’s ambition to promote and accelerate sustainable healthcare development. AstraZeneca’s “Ambition Zero Carbon” strategy will guide the company’s efforts to decrease its environmental footprint and encourage global and regional collaboration.
