Amazon is refreshing its Kindle e-reader lineup ahead of the device’s 20th anniversary in 2027. The new range brings slimmer designs, lighter builds, new colours, aluminium options, and several new accessories.
The 2026 lineup includes the standard Kindle, Kindle Paperwhite, Kindle Paperwhite Signature Edition, Kindle Colorsoft, and Kindle Kids models. In addition, the new Kindle Click adds a wireless way to turn pages.
New Kindle Designs and Features
The standard Kindle now features a 6-inch flush-front display and is 30 percent faster than the previous model. It measures 6.8mm thick and weighs 140 grams. It comes in ube purple and graphite.
For the first time, buyers can also choose an aluminium Kindle. The $189.99 model uses 80 percent recycled aluminium and comes in alpine sky blue and seaglass green. It also includes 32GB of storage, no lockscreen ads, and a magnetic cover connection.
Meanwhile, the 7-inch Kindle Paperwhite retains features such as up to 12 weeks of battery life, adjustable warm lighting, and waterproofing. It is also 6.8mm thick and weighs 204 grams.
The Paperwhite Signature Edition costs $249.99. It adds an aluminium finish, 32GB of storage, adaptive front lighting, and ad-free reading. It will be available from October 28.
The updated Kindle Colorsoft also gets a thinner and lighter design. Its flush-front display provides more paper-like colour while reducing glare. The Signature Edition adds aluminium housing, 32GB of storage, automatic front-light adjustment, and double-tap page turning.
The Colorsoft Signature Edition costs $319.99 and comes in fig and graphite. It will also arrive on October 28.
Kindle Kids versions are available across the new lineup. Each model includes a child-friendly cover, 12 months of Amazon Kids+, and a one-year warranty. The service provides access to thousands of books and audiobooks.
The new Kindle Kids models start at $179.99, while the Kindle Kids Colorsoft costs $299.99.
Kindle Click and New Accessories
Alongside the updated readers, the Kindle Click introduces wireless page turning. The $34.99 remote works across the current Kindle range and is backward compatible with supported Kindle devices from 2024 onwards.
Furthermore, a new magnetic folio cover brings haptic page-turn buttons to the Paperwhite and Colorsoft Signature Editions. The approach gives readers physical controls without adding buttons directly to the e-readers.
Other new accessories include a wireless charging dock and cases made from fabric, plant-based leather, and leather.
The redesigned models also feature a more flush display compared with earlier Kindle designs. As a result, the new devices offer a cleaner front surface while maintaining the familiar E Ink reading experience.
The aluminium models add magnetic connections for compatible cases. Meanwhile, the standard versions continue to offer lightweight designs aimed at portable reading.
Pricing and Availability
The new Kindle starts at $149.99, while the aluminium version costs $189.99. The Paperwhite starts at $199.99, and the Signature Edition costs $249.99.
