Grand Theft Auto 6 has reportedly generated an estimated $630 million in pre-order revenue, highlighting extraordinary demand ahead of its November 19, 2026, release.
According to market intelligence estimates, GTA 6 has sold approximately 6.45 million copies across PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S before launch. Consequently, the highly anticipated open-world game could become one of the biggest entertainment releases in history.
However, developer Rockstar Games and parent company Take-Two Interactive have yet to confirm the reported sales figures.
PlayStation Dominates GTA 6 Pre-Orders
Market intelligence firm Sensor Tower estimates that GTA 6 has generated approximately $630 million in pre-order revenue. Furthermore, its figures suggest that PlayStation 5 accounts for the majority of early purchases.
Specifically, PS5 represents approximately 74% of estimated pre-order sales, while Xbox Series X/S accounts for the remaining 26%.
According to the estimates, PlayStation users have pre-ordered approximately 4.8 million copies, generating around $468 million. Meanwhile, Xbox players have purchased an estimated 1.66 million copies, contributing approximately $162 million.
These figures highlight PlayStation’s substantial share of early demand. Nevertheless, the estimates remain unofficial and may differ from actual sales figures.
Additionally, GTA 6 offers two editions, including an $80 Standard edition and a $100 Ultimate edition. The premium edition has reportedly attracted stronger demand than initially anticipated.
Take-Two Reports Exceptional Early Demand
Although Rockstar Games has not disclosed official pre-order figures, Take-Two Interactive has acknowledged the game’s remarkable commercial momentum.
During the company’s first-quarter FY2027 earnings call in August, CEO Strauss Zelnick described GTA 6’s pre-order performance as “exceptional”.
Furthermore, Zelnick indicated during the investor discussion that pre-order numbers were unprecedented.
In a subsequent CNBC interview, he described pre-orders as “much better than expected”. Additionally, he confirmed that more customers were choosing the $100 Ultimate edition.
These comments suggest that demand has exceeded the publisher’s initial expectations. However, Take-Two has not publicly verified the estimated $630 million revenue figure.
GTA 6 Could Break Launch Records
Earlier market research also suggested that GTA 6 could establish new industry sales records.
In July, research firm Newzoo reported that the game had generated approximately $180 million in digital pre-orders during its opening week. Notably, the estimate covered six major markets: the United States, United Kingdom, France, Italy, Germany and Spain.
Moreover, the research indicated that GTA 6 had achieved the strongest opening for a video game pre-order campaign.
Newzoo also projected that worldwide sales could reach between $3.3 billion and $5.2 billion by the end of launch week. However, these figures represent forecasts rather than confirmed revenue.
Meanwhile, anticipation continues to build around Rockstar’s next major open-world release.
Grand Theft Auto 6 is scheduled to launch on November 19, 2026, for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S. Pre-orders are currently available through both platforms’ digital storefronts.
With millions of estimated advance purchases, GTA 6 appears positioned for an extraordinary commercial debut. Nevertheless, its actual sales performance will become clearer once Rockstar and Take-Two release official figures.
