Google Launches Gemini Omni 1.1 Flash
Google has introduced Gemini Omni 1.1 Flash, an updated multimodal model focused on faster and more controllable AI video generation. The model is available through the Gemini API and Google AI Studio. It also reaches enterprise users through the Gemini Enterprise Agent Platform.
The update adds several production-oriented controls. For example, creators can extend scenes, specify starting and ending frames, generate lower-resolution drafts and upscale finished videos to 4K. Consequently, the model targets a wider range of professional video workflows.
Longer Scenes and Greater Control
Gemini Omni 1.1 Flash can extend an existing video by analysing up to 10 seconds of previous footage. Earlier versions relied on a much shorter context window. Therefore, Google expects the expanded context to improve character, lighting and narrative continuity during scene extensions.
Creators can extend videos in 10-second increments, reaching a cumulative duration of up to 40 seconds. However, each individual generated output remains between three and 10 seconds. This distinction matters because the model does not generate a 40-second sequence in a single pass.
Furthermore, users can provide first and last frames. The model then generates motion between those two points. This approach supports camera orbits, zoom transitions and looping sequences.
360p Drafts and 4K Output
The update also introduces 360p generation for faster experimentation. Google says the lower-resolution mode can render up to 60% faster and cost one-third as much as standard 720p generation. Therefore, creators can test multiple concepts before committing to higher-resolution production.
Once a concept is approved, Gemini Omni 1.1 Flash supports 1080p and 4K output through upscaling. Importantly, the 4K capability refers to upscaled output rather than native 4K generation.
The model also accepts video references of up to three seconds. As a result, creators can provide additional visual context when developing characters, environments or visual styles.
Google Expands Its AI Video Ecosystem
Google is also bringing the new capabilities to Flow for AI Plus, Pro and Ultra subscribers. In addition, scene extension is available through the Gemini app for those subscription tiers.
Meanwhile, Adobe has integrated Gemini Omni 1.1 Flash into Firefly, extending its reach into established creative workflows.
Overall, Gemini Omni 1.1 Flash shifts attention toward controllable video production. Rather than focusing only on generation, Google is combining editing, scene continuation, keyframe control and resolution enhancement within one workflow.
