Meta Launches Threads App for Quest VR
Meta has launched a native Threads app for its Meta Quest virtual reality headsets. The company announced the release on August 11, 2026, expanding the social platform across its hardware ecosystem.
The move follows Threads’ recent arrival on Meta Ray-Ban Display glasses. Moreover, Threads has surpassed 500 million monthly active users, giving Meta a substantial audience to bring into its hardware products.
Meta says the Quest version aims to make social interaction more accessible during VR sessions. Therefore, users can check conversations while playing games, watching content or taking short breaks.
Full social features for VR users
The new app supports many of Threads’ core functions. Users can browse For You, Following and Custom feeds through a layout designed for Quest.
Additionally, users can search for people, topics and conversations. They can also view trending discussions and manage likes, replies, mentions and new followers through the Activity section.
Users can also like, reply, repost, quote, share and save posts. Furthermore, the app supports controls such as blocking, muting, restricting and reporting accounts.
Creating posts is also possible directly inside the headset. Users can start or reply to Threads, attach media from Horizon Gallery and use voice dictation for hands-free composition.
Meta expands Threads across hardware
The Quest launch strengthens Meta’s broader effort to extend Threads beyond smartphones. Earlier, the company brought Threads to its Ray-Ban Display glasses, while the platform continues expanding its community features.
Meta says the Quest app is available to all users. It can be downloaded for free through the Meta Quest Store on a headset or through the mobile app.
Consequently, the launch gives Threads another dedicated interface as Meta develops a connected ecosystem spanning phones, smart glasses and virtual reality.
