Roblox has introduced a new AI-powered feature called Build that lets users create basic mobile games using simple text prompts. As a result, users can build playable experiences without any programming knowledge. The feature will enter public alpha testing in New Zealand on July 28.
AI Turns Ideas Into Playable Games
Build works directly inside the Roblox mobile app and converts natural language prompts into complete game concepts. For example, users can describe a game idea, and the AI generates gameplay mechanics, environments, characters, visual styles, and sound.
Additionally, the feature relies on a combination of open-source and proprietary AI models to manage the entire creation process within the app. After generating a game, users can refine it, test gameplay, share it with friends, or publish it on the Roblox platform.
Safety Features and Wider Rollout
During the alpha phase, Build will be available to age-verified users aged nine and older. However, only games that pass Roblox’s safety checks will become available to age-verified users aged 16 and above.
Furthermore, Roblox will offer a free version of Build alongside premium options for advanced creators. The company also plans to expand availability to additional regions over the coming months as development continues.
Roblox Expands AI Game Development
Build joins a growing collection of AI-powered tools available in Roblox Studio for creators of different experience levels. Consequently, the company continues to lower the barriers to game development across its platform.
Previously, Roblox introduced AI tools for 3D asset generation and coding assistance. Meanwhile, the latest addition reflects the industry’s broader shift toward generative AI, making game creation faster and more accessible while continuing discussions about its long-term impact on professional game development.
