Motorola has launched the Edge 70 Max, becoming the first Android smartphone outside the Pixel lineup to feature built-in Qi2 magnets integrated directly into its chassis. The device supports the Qi 2.2.1 standard under the MPP25 profile, allowing native 25W MagSafe-compatible magnetic wireless charging without relying on “Qi2 Ready” accessories or magnetic cases.
Moreover, the phone’s Wireless Power Consortium certification confirms full Qi2 compliance with built-in magnetic alignment. As a result, Motorola moves ahead of several Android competitors in adopting the wireless charging standard popularized by Apple’s MagSafe ecosystem.
Flagship features with premium performance
The Edge 70 Max combines its wireless charging innovation with Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 processor, up to 12GB of LPDDR5X RAM, and a 7,100mAh silicon-carbon battery. Additionally, the device supports 90W TurboPower wired charging for faster power replenishment.
The smartphone features a 6.82-inch Quad HD+ LTPO AMOLED display with a 144Hz refresh rate and peak brightness of 7,000 nits. Furthermore, Corning Gorilla Glass 7i protects the display against everyday wear.
For photography, the Edge 70 Max includes a 50MP Sony main camera with optical image stabilization, an 8MP ultra-wide camera, and a 32MP front-facing camera capable of recording 4K video. In addition, a dedicated hardware button activates the new on-device AI assistant, which supports live translation, contextual searches, and AI-powered photo editing.
Availability
Motorola released the Edge 70 Max in India on July 15 through Flipkart, with pricing expected between ₹44,999 and ₹50,000. Meanwhile, the smartphone is also available in the UK for around £700. Select European markets are expected to receive the device soon. However, Motorola has not confirmed a U.S. launch, continuing its recent strategy of focusing premium Edge smartphones on markets outside North America.
