Bahrain Ministry Partners Batelco on Digital Screens

Bahrain’s Ministry of Municipalities Affairs and Agriculture has signed an agreement with Batelco, part of Beyon, to operate and invest in 10 electronic advertising screen locations along Muharraq Ring Road for a period of five years. The initiative aims to modernize municipal advertising infrastructure while expanding the use of digital technologies across the sector.

Under the agreement, Batelco will manage and invest in the digital advertising sites. As a result, the project will support the development of smart advertising solutions while improving the utilization of municipal assets.

Advancing Digital Advertising Infrastructure

The agreement forms part of the ministry’s broader efforts to enhance municipal asset management and strengthen partnerships with the private sector. Moreover, the initiative aligns with Bahrain’s ongoing digital transformation programs and smart city ambitions.

Wael bin Nasser Al Mubarak, Minister of Municipalities Affairs and Agriculture, emphasized that the project supports the development of municipal advertising assets through advanced technological solutions that keep pace with changes in the advertising industry.

Shaikh Mohammed bin Ahmed Al Khalifa, Undersecretary for Municipalities Affairs, noted that the agreement will improve the management and development of advertising sites while increasing their investment value. Furthermore, he highlighted that digital screens will offer advertisers greater flexibility and improve services for beneficiaries.

Expanding Smart City Initiatives

Khalid Ali Al Qallaf, Director General of Muharraq Municipality, stated that the project supports plans to increase the use of digital advertising platforms and convert more advertising locations to electronic formats. Consequently, the municipality expects to enhance both operational efficiency and advertising effectiveness.

The signing ceremony was attended by senior officials from the ministry, Muharraq Municipal Council, and Batelco. In addition, the event underscored the growing collaboration between government entities and technology providers in Bahrain.

Batelco to Drive Technology Deployment

Maitham Abdullah, Chief Executive Officer of Batelco, said the agreement reflects the company’s commitment to supporting Bahrain’s digital transformation through advanced technologies and digital solutions. He added that Batelco will utilize its technical expertise to develop and operate the advertising sites according to established standards while supporting operational efficiency and smart city initiatives.

As Bahrain continues investing in digital infrastructure, projects such as this are expected to play a larger role in modernizing public services and urban environments. Therefore, the agreement represents another step toward creating a more connected and technology-driven municipal ecosystem across the Kingdom.
