Dubai Unveils ‘SME in a Box’ Platform to Support Entrepreneurs

Entrepreneur using business platform

Dubai has introduced ‘SME in a Box,’ a new platform designed to help entrepreneurs establish and operate businesses through a single access point. As a result, business owners can access multiple services without dealing separately with various providers.

The platform combines licensing support, banking, digital payments, logistics, and telecommunications services. Moreover, it connects entrepreneurs with a network of private-sector partners that offer solutions tailored to small and medium-sized enterprises.

According to the Dubai Department of Economy and Tourism (DET), the initiative aims to simplify business setup processes. Consequently, entrepreneurs can reduce administrative work and gain faster access to essential services during the early stages of business operations.

The platform’s partner offerings provide an estimated value of more than $21,780 (AED 80,000) per business, depending on the selected services. These benefits stem from discounted rates, reduced service fees, packaged SME solutions, and more efficient onboarding processes.

Additionally, Emirati entrepreneurs can access extra support through partner-specific programs.

Faster Setup and Reduced Administrative Burden

DET stated that businesses using the platform may spend less time sourcing providers, comparing services, and completing onboarding requirements. Therefore, entrepreneurs can focus more on growth and daily operations.

The platform estimates time savings of up to 200 hours for businesses activating banking and payment services. This improvement comes from consolidating multiple procedures into a single access channel.

SME in a Box launches with 18 private-sector partners. These partners provide specialized packages covering banking, payments, logistics, telecommunications, and related business services.

Certain services, including payments, logistics, and telecommunications, can become operational within approximately 24 hours, subject to eligibility checks and onboarding requirements. Meanwhile, banking and licensing services will continue to follow existing regulatory and compliance procedures. However, coordinated onboarding is expected to reduce processing delays.

Supporting Dubai’s Entrepreneurial Ecosystem

Ahmad Al Room Almheiri, Chief Executive Officer of the Mohammed Bin Rashid Establishment for Small and Medium Enterprises Development (Dubai SME), part of DET, explained that the platform was created in response to entrepreneur feedback regarding simplified processes, transparent costs, and faster service access.

Almheiri stated that SME in a Box provides a coordinated framework that brings together multiple services within a single system.

Ahmad Al Room Almheiri added that the initiative supports efforts to improve the business environment in Dubai and aligns with the Dubai Economic Agenda (D33), which aims to expand the emirate’s economy and strengthen its competitiveness.

The rollout will occur in phases, beginning with licensing, banking, payments, logistics, and telecommunications services. Furthermore, future phases will introduce expanded digital integration and automation capabilities.

SME in a Box will also connect with Dubai Founders HQ and later integrate with the Invest in Dubai platform. As development continues, DET plans to add more service integrations and automation features to improve efficiency, monitoring, and service delivery across the SME ecosystem.
