OMPAY Launches JEEL Digital Wallet for Children and Teens

Teen using digital wallet

OMPAY has launched JEEL, a new digital wallet service designed specifically for children and teenagers. As a result, parents can manage and monitor their children’s spending through a secure and controlled digital payment platform.

Integrated within the OMPAY application, JEEL allows parents to onboard users aged seven to 17 in just a few minutes. Moreover, the service offers a modern alternative to traditional cash allowances and daily spending.

Parents can instantly transfer funds, monitor transactions in real time, and maintain clear visibility over how money is spent. Consequently, families gain greater control over everyday expenses while reducing dependence on cash.

The service targets routine spending needs, including school purchases, travel costs, allowances, and other daily transactions. Furthermore, digitizing these payments improves convenience and enhances financial oversight.

Built-In Controls and Secure Spending

JEEL, which takes its name from the Arabic word for “generation,” forms part of OMPAY’s broader strategy to expand access to digital financial services. At the same time, it addresses the evolving needs of modern families.

The platform enables younger users to access their wallets through personal mobile devices. Additionally, they can make digital payments using tokenized payment technology for secure mobile transactions.

The service also includes an OMPAY Visa prepaid card, allowing users to make payments both within Oman and internationally. Parents can also request a physical payment card, which is delivered directly to their homes.

To maintain responsible spending, JEEL wallets operate within predefined controls. For example, each wallet carries a maximum balance limit of $520 (OMR 200). Therefore, the system supports everyday purchases while preserving parental oversight and spending discipline.

Encouraging Financial Responsibility

Sami Elloumi, Chief Executive Officer of OMPAY, highlighted the practical value of the new service.

“With JEEL, we are extending the OMPAY wallet to address a key everyday need for families—managing allowances and expenses in a more secure and structured way. By reducing reliance on cash and introducing controlled digital access, JEEL offers a practical solution that supports both oversight and ease of use.”

Beyond payments, JEEL introduces children and teenagers to digital financial services within a supervised environment. As a result, young users can develop responsible spending habits while becoming familiar with modern payment methods.

OMPAY continues to expand its fintech ecosystem through solutions that improve accessibility, convenience, and security. Meanwhile, JEEL is now available through the OMPAY application on iOS, Android, and Huawei devices, allowing parents to manage spending for younger users from a single platform.
