Stripe Launches 288 New Features and Google AI Shopping Partnership

Stripe conference showcasing AI commerce

Stripe introduced 288 new products and features during its annual conference in San Francisco. As a result, the company positioned itself as a key infrastructure provider for the emerging AI commerce landscape. The event drew more than 9,000 attendees, reflecting strong industry interest in this shift.

Moreover, a new partnership with Google allows businesses to sell directly within AI Mode and the Gemini app. Consequently, transactions can now happen inside AI-driven environments without redirecting users. As Patrick Collison said, “AI is the biggest platform shift for the economy since the internet, and in the not-too-distant future agents will account for most transactions online,” said Stripe CEO Patrick Collison. “The enterprises and startups behind this wave are overwhelmingly building on Stripe.”

Expanding Agentic Commerce and Payments

The partnership extends Stripe’s Agentic Commerce Suite, which enables purchases directly inside AI tools. Therefore, consumers can complete transactions seamlessly within search and chat interfaces. Early participants include major retail brands, while integrations also connect with platforms like Microsoft and Meta Platforms.

In addition, the company introduced Link wallets designed for AI agents. As a result, users can authorize agents to make purchases securely on their behalf. Each transaction uses a one-time card, which protects sensitive payment details. As Will Gaybrick said, “If AI can solve Nobel level physics problems but can’t buy a domain, something’s gone wrong,” said Will Gaybrick, Stripe’s president of product and business.

Meanwhile, streaming payments offer a new billing model for AI services. By combining usage tracking with blockchain-based micropayments, businesses can charge for every token in real time. Consequently, this approach addresses inefficiencies in traditional billing systems.

Security, Financial Tools, and Future Direction

At the same time, Stripe enhanced its fraud detection system to counter rising risks in AI services. Therefore, the updated system identifies and blocks suspicious activity more effectively. Recent data shows a significant number of attempted sign-ups come from bad actors, highlighting the need for stronger safeguards.

Additionally, the company introduced an upgraded treasury system supporting multiple currencies and instant transfers. As a result, businesses can manage funds more efficiently across global operations. Furthermore, new tools for developers and expanded payment hardware broaden the platform’s capabilities.

Overall, these updates reflect a broader strategy to support AI-driven transactions. Consequently, Stripe continues to build tools that enable faster, more secure, and more flexible digital commerce.
