ADJD Rolls Out Facial Recognition for Notary Transactions

Facial recognition system for notary

The Abu Dhabi Judicial Department (ADJD) has launched the first phase of a pioneering project to implement facial recognition technology for notary transactions. As a result, it has become the first judicial authority in the region to adopt the advanced system as a smart alternative to digital signatures.

This strategic initiative aims to strengthen the notarial authentication system while also improving service efficiency, accuracy, and reliability. Initially, the rollout focuses on powers of attorney for lawyers. Consequently, users can authenticate documents within minutes through smart devices without the need for physical presence.

Moreover, the new system eliminates traditional digital signatures and replaces them with biometric verification through encrypted facial data. The system instantly matches this data with official records, ensuring seamless processing. Authorities say the technology delivers exceptional precision while also ensuring maximum security and protection of personal data.

Leadership Vision Drives Digital Transformation

His Highness Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Vice President of the UAE, Deputy Prime Minister, Chairman of the Presidential Court, and Chairman of the Abu Dhabi Judicial Department, has directed the adoption of cutting-edge technologies to modernise judicial services and enhance the emirate’s global competitiveness.

According to officials, this direction reflects a broader strategy to accelerate digital transformation across judicial services. Therefore, the department continues to invest in advanced systems that support innovation and efficiency.
