Samsung Launches 13-Inch Bio-Resin Color E-Paper
Samsung Electronics has launched the 13-inch Samsung Color E-Paper (EM13DX), expanding its Color E-Paper lineup with a compact, ultra-low-power digital signage display. Notably, the new model introduces the world’s first commercial display housing made partly from phytoplankton-based bio-resin, while offering a practical alternative to printed signage for business environments.
Paper-Like Displays for Flexible Spaces
As the smallest model in the series, the 13-inch Color E-Paper targets shelves, counters, doors, and tabletop placements where paper signs remain common. Similar in size to A4 paper, the display delivers 1,600 × 1,200 resolution in a 4:3 aspect ratio. Moreover, advanced digital ink technology and refined color imaging produce visuals that closely resemble printed posters.
Additionally, the display includes a rechargeable embedded battery, USB Type-C support, and flexible mounting options. Because of its 17.9mm ultra-slim profile and 0.9kg weight, businesses can easily reposition it as campaigns change. As a result, organizations gain greater flexibility without relying on permanent power connections.
Lower-Impact Design and Energy Efficiency
At the same time, sustainability remains central to the product’s design. The housing uses a blend of recycled plastic and phytoplankton-based bio-resin, reducing reliance on petroleum-based materials. Furthermore, the packaging uses only paper materials.
In daily use, the display consumes zero power when showing static images. Therefore, energy consumption remains far lower than that of conventional digital signage, even during updates, helping reduce operating costs over time.
Simple Content Management and Lineup Expansion
To support easy operation, Samsung provides both a mobile E-Paper App and cloud-based Samsung VXT for content updates and device management. Consequently, teams can manage displays locally or remotely with minimal training.
Meanwhile, Samsung plans to expand the lineup further, unveiling a new 20-inch model at ISE 2026, alongside the existing 32-inch version. Together, these additions broaden the Color E-Paper portfolio to meet diverse business signage needs.
