Ajman Municipality and Planning Department has implemented 27 artificial intelligence initiatives across its sectors and departments. The initiatives aim to improve government services, accelerate procedures and strengthen operational efficiency.
The programme follows the launch of the Ajman Artificial Intelligence Programme earlier this year. Moreover, it aligns with UAE government efforts to deploy AI assistants and autonomous execution systems across public services.
AI Expands Across Public Services
The initiatives cover public health, environmental services, urban planning, infrastructure, finance and customer services. Therefore, the municipality is applying AI across several areas rather than limiting its use to a single department.
In public health, the Smart Food Registration Service creates a unified database for food products. Meanwhile, the Food Import and Export Platform connects seven services for imports, exports and health clearances.
The Raqeeb system also analyses inspection data and identifies potential risks. Furthermore, AI-powered pest management uses smart traps and computer vision to identify pests and map high-risk areas.
The municipality is also using AI for laboratory operations. Its Baseer assistant provides technical information, while a Laboratory Information Management System automates workflows from sample reception through reporting.
AI Speeds Urban Planning and Operations
AI is also changing how Ajman approaches urban planning and geospatial services. The Urban Intelligence Lens uses geospatial AI, generative AI and analytics to support planning decisions.
As a result, the initiative can reduce approval times from 21 days to three days. Similarly, AI-supported geospatial studies have reduced processing time from 17 working days to four days.
Smart Land Planning uses AI to generate and assess multiple land-use layouts. Consequently, planning processes that previously took several days can now be completed in hours.
The Roads and Infrastructure Department is also using AI to automate the issuance of land-level certificates. In this case, the system analyses plans and data before issuing certificates electronically.
AI Supports Finance, Customer Service and Governance
Beyond planning, the municipality is applying AI to finance, procurement and recruitment. The AI Invoice Auditor uses optical character recognition to check invoice information and payment requirements. Meanwhile, the My Tenders initiative supports the tender process from request preparation through bid evaluation.
Customer services are also receiving AI capabilities. The Smart Forecasting System analyses historical and operational data to predict demand, waiting times and peak periods.
In addition, Smart Guide 360 provides voice and visual assistance across service centres and digital channels. The municipality is also developing an AI-enabled customer relationship management system for complaints, reports and suggestions.
The department is further establishing systems for AI-agent governance and lifecycle management. These efforts include AI monitoring, security controls and alignment with ISO 42001.
Overall, the 27 initiatives form part of Ajman’s wider push toward a more proactive digital government. Earlier in July, the emirate also completed a government transaction using agentic AI to renew a trade licence, showing how its AI programme is moving toward automated service delivery.
