Dubai has launched “AI in the Sky,” an innovative aerial monitoring initiative that uses unmanned drones powered by artificial intelligence to oversee 52 million square metres of green spaces. The system continuously monitors vegetation health, identifies irrigation inefficiencies, and detects pest infestations. Consequently, it enables early intervention and predictive maintenance, ensuring the long-term vitality of Dubai’s green infrastructure. This initiative supports sustainable urban development and enhances environmental resilience across the emirate.
Strategic Partnership for Innovation
A Memorandum of Understanding was signed with Eanan Al Samma for Remote-Controlled Aircraft Manufacturing to advance the use of AI and drone technologies. Through this partnership, both parties will collaborate to develop and deploy advanced solutions for field operations and municipal inspections. Furthermore, the agreement aims to integrate smart technologies that support environmental sustainability and urban efficiency.
Under the MoU, both parties will exchange technical expertise, develop innovative solutions, and pilot advanced operational models that support Dubai Municipality’s objectives for flexible, efficient municipal service delivery and forward-looking urban planning.
Enhancing Sustainability and Urban Identity
The collaboration emphasizes sustainable resource management and the preservation of Dubai’s environmental identity. By combining real-time aerial data with AI-driven analysis, it strengthens the city’s ability to maintain and expand green spaces. Moreover, the initiative contributes to improving liveability, optimizing resource use, and supporting Dubai’s broader goals for urban sustainability and future readiness. The partnership strengthens sustainability, resource management, and the ongoing enhancement of Dubai’s appeal and liveability.
