Google Launches New Nest Cams, Doorbell, and Home Speaker
Google has launched its latest lineup of smart home products, including the Nest Cam Indoor (3rd generation), Nest Cam Outdoor (2nd generation), Nest Doorbell (3rd generation), and the new Google Home Speaker. These devices use a specialized version of Gemini AI, called “Gemini for Home,” designed to enhance smart home interactions and improve overall performance.
Nest Cams and Doorbell Features
The updated Nest Cams and Doorbell provide 2K HDR video for sharper and more detailed imagery. With expanded diagonal field-of-view angles—152 degrees for Nest Cams and 166 degrees for the Nest Doorbell—users can monitor larger areas efficiently. The devices are also IP65-rated, making them resistant to dust and water, suitable for both indoor and outdoor use.
Gemini for Home powers advanced features such as detailed notifications, asking video history questions, and generating condensed highlights of footage for quick review. Additional capabilities include digital zoom, camera cropping, and intelligent alerts for detecting people, vehicles, or animals. These Nest devices are available in select regions, including the US, UK, Australia, Japan, France, Canada, Germany, and Italy.
Google Home Speaker and Walmart Partner Devices
The new Google Home Speaker delivers 360-degree sound and supports pairing for surround audio setups. Gemini AI integration enhances conversational capabilities and voice recognition, turning the speaker into a central hub for smart home management. The device includes a dynamic light ring that signals when AI is listening, reasoning, or responding. Users can pair two speakers with a Google TV Streamer to create a home theater setup.
Google also partners with Walmart to offer devices such as the onn Indoor Camera Wired and the onn Video Doorbell Wired. These devices are compatible with Google Home and Gemini AI, providing a more affordable smart home experience. All Google and partner devices are currently available in the US.
