Abu Dhabi: UAE President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan has endorsed the launch of K2 Think, described as the world’s most advanced open-source reasoning model. He reaffirmed the UAE’s commitment to investing in modern technologies and artificial intelligence, emphasizing their role in driving national development, boosting global competitiveness, and building a better future for generations. The announcement coincides with the birth anniversary of the late Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan on September 7, honoring his legacy in establishing the UAE’s foundations in technology, science, and innovation.
Advancing AI with Reasoning Capabilities
Reasoning is considered the next frontier in artificial intelligence because it enables systems not only to see, hear, and create but also to think, solve complex problems, and unlock new levels of innovation. Mohamed bin Zayed University of Artificial Intelligence and G42 will release K2 Think, designed to be leaner and more efficient. Consequently, the model delivers frontier-class performance in a compact form, often matching or surpassing larger systems. This design makes K2 Think highly flexible, efficient, and suitable for diverse real-world applications.

Commenting on the launch, His Highness Sheikh Tahnoon bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Ruler of Abu Dhabi and Chairman of the Artificial Intelligence and Advanced Technology Council, said the achievement represents an important step in consolidating the UAE’s leadership in advanced technologies.
