Meta’s AI-powered Ray-Ban smart glasses helped push global smart glasses shipments up 110% year-over-year in the first half of 2025, according to Counterpoint Research. Shipments of Meta’s models rose 73% during the period, fueled by strong demand and Luxottica’s expanded production capacity. Luxottica, Ray-Ban’s parent company and Meta’s key manufacturing partner, scaled output while adding new styles and strengthening retail channels.
AI smart glasses accounted for 78% of total shipments, compared with 66% in the second half of 2024 and 46% in the first half of 2024. This growth was driven largely by Ray-Ban Meta models, which have sold more than two million pairs since their October 2023 debut. Other brands shipping AI glasses in H1 2025 included Xiaomi, TCL-RayNeo, Kopin Solos, and Thunderobot. Counterpoint expects the rapid growth to continue into 2026 as more AI models enter the market from companies like Meta and Alibaba.
Market Expansion and Competition
Ray-Ban Meta AI glasses expanded into India, Mexico, and the UAE in Q2 2025, with pre-orders in India starting at Rs 29,900. Major markets such as North America, Western Europe, and Australia continue to lead shipments. The glasses pair with smartphones through the Meta AI app and include features like image recognition, live translation, and video capture.
Chinese brands are emerging as strong competitors. Xiaomi’s AI glasses became the fourth best-selling model overall in H1 2025 despite launching late in the period, helped by strong fan support in China. TCL-RayNeo’s RayNeo V3 series, Thunderobot’s AURA, and Kopin Solos’ AirGo V are also gaining traction. Component makers such as Allwinner Technology and Qualcomm are introducing new chipsets to enable slimmer designs and longer battery life.
Outlook for the Rest of 2025
Shipments of audio-focused smart glasses from companies like Amazon and Huawei have declined due to rising competition from AI-enabled models. Counterpoint forecasts a compound annual growth rate of over 60% for the market between 2024 and 2029. It expects Meta to introduce new models, including the Oakley Meta glasses designed for athletes, at the Meta Connect event. Analysts also believe Apple is developing its first AI glasses, signaling even fiercer competition ahead.
