The Dubai Chamber of Digital Economy, a member of the Dubai Chambers, has released a report outlining its efforts to bolster the digital economy in the United Arab Emirates and achieve the goals set forth in the Dubai Economic Agenda (D33). The study, which was conducted in collaboration with Entrepreneur Middle East and titled “Dubai’s Digital Economy and its Thriving Startup Ecosystem”, estimates that the national digital economy will grow to over 140 billion dollars by 2031, up from its current value of nearly 38 billion dollars.

H.E. Omar Sultan Al Olama, Minister of State for Artificial Intelligence, Digital Economy, and Remote Work Applications, and Chairman of Dubai Chamber of Digital Economy, emphasized the importance of the Chamber’s role in supporting the digital economy and furthering Dubai’s goal of becoming a leading global destination for digital companies.

The Minister stated that the UAE’s initiatives to build a futuristic economy will help create a world-class digital infrastructure and support a thriving startup ecosystem. The Minister also highlighted the objective of doubling the contribution of the digital economy to the UAE’s GDP from 9.7% to over 20% by 2031 and added that the strategic plans will focus on achieving the goals set forth in the Dubai Economic Agenda (D33) by driving digital transformation, developing a sustainable business sector, and adding an average of 100 billion AED per year to the emirate’s economy.

The recently released report on Dubai’s digital economy not only sheds light on the key strategies, drivers, and stakeholders behind its growth, but it also offers an in-depth look at the thriving startup ecosystem. The study includes interviews with well-established local startups, as well as businesses that have recently relocated to Dubai from various industries. These interviews provide a comprehensive understanding of the driving forces behind the growth of Dubai’s digital economy and the opportunities that exist for entrepreneurs and businesses looking to establish themselves in the region.
