André Sayegh [Company: First Gulf Bank]
The current CEO of First Gulf Bank is Andre Sayegh (born November 2, 1954). In late February 2006, the newly elected board of directors chose Sayegh. He served as FGB’s Chief Operating Officer before being named CEO. Sayegh, a former Citibank employee of more than 18 years, played a significant role in enacting the necessary structural improvements at the bank. He successfully turned First Gulf Bank into a premier regional organization with rapid growth rates alongside the managing director. He has introduced new products and modernized the bank’s operational system.
For more than 33 years, André Sayegh has worked in the banking industry. Sayegh played a crucial role in restructuring the bank’s operations, growing its reach, and launching new products. The bank recently reported that its first-quarter net profit increased by 12% to AED1.05 billion, supported by net interest income and Islamic finance income that increased by almost AED80 million.
Amit Jain [Company: Emaar Properties]
Until the company eliminated all job titles in July, Amit Jain served as group CEO of Emaar Properties in Dubai. In June 2017, Jain assumed the group CEO position at Dubai’s largest developer. He is responsible for the company’s overall management and strategy and reports directly to the chairman and board. He has been with Emaar since 2006, and during his time there as the Group’s CFO and COO, he gained extensive knowledge of the company. The chartered accountant will primarily guide the company’s next phase in the future.
Jain, who had 22 years of experience in real estate and banking, joined Emaar as the Group’s financial director in 2006. Emaar Properties generated $5.4 billion in revenue in 2020. The business declared in April 2020 that it would contribute $27.2 million to the “Social Solidarity Fund Against COVID-19,” established by the Dubai Department of Islamic Affairs and Charitable Activities. Jain holds a CFA Charter from the CFA Institute in the United States and is a Chartered Accountant from the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India.
