LinkedIn Launches AI Slop Reporting Tool to Flag Inauthentic Posts

LinkedIn AI content reporting feature

LinkedIn has launched a new reporting tool that allows users to flag posts as “seems like AI slop.” As a result, the professional networking platform is taking its strongest step yet to reduce low-quality AI-generated content in users’ feeds.

Users can access the feature through the three-dot menu on any post. Once someone flags a post, it disappears from that person’s feed while the platform reduces its algorithmic reach. Additionally, the original author receives a private notification in the analytics dashboard stating that the content may have appeared inauthentic.

LinkedIn Updates AI Writing Features

Alongside the new reporting option, LinkedIn is removing its built-in “Enhance with AI” writing tool. Instead, the platform will introduce a lighter proofreading feature that corrects grammar while preserving a user’s original writing style.

Consequently, the change reflects the platform’s effort to encourage authentic content and reduce excessive AI-generated posts. Meanwhile, LinkedIn said it has blocked billions of automated posting attempts. It has also detected hundreds of thousands of automated comments over the past few months.

AI Content Remains a Growing Challenge

The latest update arrives as AI-generated content continues to increase across social platforms. Recent estimates suggest that about 41% of long-form LinkedIn posts and 30% of shorter posts are AI-generated. Furthermore, the platform accounted for nearly two-thirds of all AI-generated content identified in one recent analysis despite representing only about one-third of the scanned material.

Other platforms have also begun introducing tools to identify AI-generated content. Earlier this month, Substack announced a partnership with an AI detection provider to help users review AI-written posts.

The latest changes highlight a broader industry effort to improve content authenticity while giving users greater control over the quality of information displayed in their feeds.
