UAE launches National Guidelines for Drone Cybersecurity

The UAE Cybersecurity Council (CSC) has unveiled the nation’s first comprehensive Drone Cybersecurity Guidelines. Developed in collaboration with Reach Digital, a subsidiary of Reach Group, and Shieldworkz, a cybersecurity firm focused on OT/IoT and drone protection, the initiative aims to fortify national defense against emerging digital threats.

This move reflects the UAE’s strategic vision to lead in secure digital transformation. By focusing on drones a rapidly expanding technology across sectors the UAE reinforces its role as a global center for innovation. These guidelines aim to ensure that drone use remains safe and resilient, particularly in government, commercial, and industrial operations.

Dr. Mohamed Al Kuwaiti, Head of UAE Cybersecurity, emphasized that this development marks a key milestone in strengthening the UAV ecosystem. With drones increasingly utilized in areas such as agriculture, logistics, and environmental monitoring, the need to address cybersecurity proactively has never been more urgent. Consequently, these guidelines aim to protect not only airspace but also the integrity of sensitive data and critical infrastructure.

Collaborative Efforts to Secure Innovation

Reach Group’s leadership highlighted the significance of partnership in this effort. Malik Melhem, the company’s CEO, noted that the collaboration demonstrates a clear dedication to enhancing the nation’s digital security capabilities. He explained that the project provides tangible, scalable solutions that support both safety and innovation.

Additionally, Mohammad Khaled, Vice President of Growth and Business Transformation at Reach Group, reinforced the importance of this work. He pointed out that aligning with CSC and Shieldworkz helps maintain the UAE’s forward position in safeguarding new technologies.
