UAE and U.S. sign Major AI semiconductor Deal

U.S. President Donald Trump and UAE Crown Prince at Abu Dhabi signing ceremony.

The United Arab Emirates (UAE) and the United States have signed a landmark agreement that allows the UAE to purchase advanced artificial intelligence (AI) semiconductors from American companies. Announced by U.S. President Donald Trump during his visit to Abu Dhabi, this deal represents a major step in the UAE’s ambition to become a leading AI player globally. Importantly, the agreement requires that data centers handling these semiconductors be operated by U.S. firms, ensuring secure management of the technology. Trump highlighted that this deal will generate billions of dollars in business and accelerate the UAE’s AI development plans.

Furthermore, the UAE has pledged a massive $1.4 trillion investment over ten years in various U.S. sectors, including AI, energy, and manufacturing. This significant financial commitment underpins a growing partnership between the two nations, aiming to boost technological and economic cooperation.

Launch of the Largest AI Campus Outside the U.S.

In addition to the semiconductor deal, the UAE and U.S. are jointly establishing the largest AI campus outside America, located in Abu Dhabi. This 5GW AI campus was unveiled at Qasr Al Watan with both President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan and President Trump in attendance. The campus will host major U.S. hyperscalers and enterprises, increasing regional computing resources and benefiting the Global South. Powered by nuclear, solar, and gas energy, the campus will also emphasize sustainability through reduced carbon emissions and support AI research via an onsite science park.

Built by G42 alongside U.S. partners, the 10-square-mile facility falls under the “U.S.-UAE AI Acceleration Partnership.” The collaboration also involves strict regulation of compute resource access, ensuring secure and controlled technology use.

Moreover, Amazon Web Services and others launched the Sovereign Cloud Launchpad, which aims to significantly boost the UAE’s digital economy by 2033.

The White House confirmed that the partnership will align national security standards and secure advanced AI technologies. Overall, these developments showcase a robust UAE-U.S. alliance focused on innovation, economic growth, and responsible AI advancement. This collaboration promises to reshape the future of AI technology and investment in the region and beyond.
