Spotify adds Snooze Option for Overplayed Songs

Spotify has introduced a handy new feature that many users will likely appreciate. If you’re tired of hearing the same song on repeat in your playlists, you can now “snooze” it. This new option allows you to temporarily prevent a song from appearing in your recommended playlists for 30 days.

The feature is currently being tested with Premium users. However, Spotify has confirmed that it will be rolled out to all users soon. By giving listeners more control over their listening experience, Spotify hopes to reduce user fatigue caused by overplayed tracks. Instead of manually skipping songs again and again, a simple tap will now do the trick.

How the ‘Snooze’ Function Works

Once you feel a song has lost its charm due to overexposure, snoozing it is simple. Just tap the designated button, and the track will vanish from your recommended playlists for a month. Keep in mind that this affects only Spotify’s algorithm-generated recommendations. Therefore, if the song appears in user-created playlists, it may still play.

This small change brings a meaningful improvement to how Spotify adapts to listening habits. While many users curate personal playlists, a large portion of engagement comes from algorithm-based playlists. So, even if you love a song initially, repeated plays can quickly become tiresome. With the snooze feature, users can take a break without removing the song permanently.

Better Playlist Control and Listening Comfort

In addition to the snooze function, Spotify has updated its Hide button. This tool lets you hide songs from playlists that you didn’t create yourself. This is particularly useful in curated lists where you can’t remove individual tracks. Now, if something doesn’t suit your mood, you won’t be forced to hear it again.

Overall, these updates demonstrate Spotify’s focus on improving user control. By letting people fine-tune their listening experience, Spotify not only enhances comfort but also encourages continued engagement. As music preferences shift quickly, features like snooze and hide ensure the app evolves with the listener.
