Google Teases Pixel 11 Pro Fold Ahead of Aug. 12 Pre-Orders

Google Pixel 11 Pro Fold

Google has released a teaser for the Pixel 11 Pro Fold, offering the first official look at its next-generation foldable smartphone. The preview arrives just days before the Made by Google 2026 event on August 12. Meanwhile, pre-orders will open on the morning of August 12, several hours before the keynote presentation.

Pre-orders begin before the launch event

The 15-second teaser continues the company’s “Ask more of your phone” campaign, which first appeared with the Pixel 11 Pro. It also highlights the foldable design with the tagline: “To switch phones, you have to be open to what’s new. And to what opens.” In addition, the video briefly showcases the device’s pill-shaped camera cutout integrated into the Camera Bar.

The Google Store homepage now features a countdown to August 12 at 7 a.m. PT. Similarly, Best Buy has added a matching pre-order countdown. Therefore, customers will be able to place orders roughly eight hours before the Made by Google event begins at 3 p.m. PT in New York City. By comparison, last year the gap between pre-orders and the keynote lasted only one hour.

Leaks reveal Pixel 11 Pro upgrades

Meanwhile, leaked marketing renders shared by tipster Evan Blass reveal the Pixel 11 Pro in a new matte black finish reportedly named “Obsidian.” The matte coating extends across both the frame and the Camera Bar. As a result, it could reduce fingerprint smudges that affected previous glossy Pro models.

The leaks also suggest a 120x digital zoom feature, improving on the 100x capability offered by the Pixel 10 Pro. In addition, the redesigned notification light is now expected to carry the “HiLight” name, replacing the earlier “Pixel Glow” branding. The Pixel 11 Pro is also expected to launch with the Tensor G6 processor and Android 17 pre-installed.

Expected pricing and availability

Leaked Amazon listings indicate that the Pixel 11 Pro could start at $1,099 for the 256GB model, representing a $100 increase over its predecessor. Meanwhile, the Pixel 11 Pro XL is expected to launch at $1,299, while the Pixel 11 Pro Fold may start at around $1,899 and ship separately in October.

Retail availability for the standard Pixel 11 lineup is expected to begin on August 20. Consequently, the upcoming launch will introduce Google’s latest flagship smartphones with updated hardware, new software features, and an expanded foldable lineup.
